Product Description:
Danaher's SSM-15-F Temperature Control Module is designed to handle currents of up to 15 amps and operates on nominal single-phase input voltages of 120 or 240 VAC. The SSM module is excellent for applications requiring accurate and consistent temperature regulation.
In Auto mode, the Smart Start® feature of the SSM-15-F temperature control module initiates a linear power output ramp when the temperature dips below 212°F. In Auto mode, the SS Override temperature is set to 212°F. The controller's response time is less than 0.13 seconds, allowing for fast handling of power changes. The control module has diagnostic indicators like LEDs and a 3-digit, 7-segment screen. The manual control ranges from 0 to 99% and maintains the output power within 1% of the desired value. As long as the process temperature is less than 212°F, the 4-1/2 minute Smart Start time will take precedence over Auto. The control module has an automated reset feature and maintains an accuracy of ±1 degree Fahrenheit regardless of the setting. If there is an issue with the T/C, hand operation will resolve it. The module can accommodate temperatures up to 1000°F by using J-type or K-type thermocouples.
The SSM-15-F temperature control module has input amplifier stability of 0.02°F/°F and a common mode rejection ratio of more than 100 dB. This controller is ideal for industrial automation tasks that require controlled heating. The module's operating priority logic ensures that Smart Start is initiated before Auto mode, and T/C faults always take precedence over Auto settings, unless certain override capabilities are in use. The SSM is the optimal solution for systems that necessitate consistent performance and regulated heat output. It satisfies operational requirements in environments where automation is the standard.
Frequently Asked Questions about SSM-15-F:
Q: Why does the SSM-15-F include Smart Start feature?
A: Smart Start provides a gradual power ramp below 212°F to protect heaters. It ensures controlled warm-up and prevents thermal shock during initial startup.
Q: How does the SSM-15-F handle reversed thermocouples in Auto mode?
A: It automatically inhibits power to the heater during reversed T/C detection. This prevents incorrect heating response and protects the system unless override is enabled.
Q: Why does the SSM-15-F use a 3-digit display?
A: The 3-digit 7-segment display offers real-time feedback for monitoring and diagnostics. It improves visibility of control data and fault indicators during operation.
Q: Does the SSM-15-F support manual output power control?
A: Yes, manual control allows adjustment from 0 to 99% power. It maintains output power within 1% of the user-defined setting for precision.
Q: How do T/C faults affect the SSM-15-F operation?
A: The Open, shorted, or reversed T/C faults override Auto mode. Power output is inhibited unless Automatic Bumpless Transfer is enabled to allow continuous control.
