Product Description:
The HP57A622 timer is made by Danaher for the Timers and Controllers series. As an electromechanical on-delay controller, it initiates or terminates machine functions after a selected interval, coordinating conveyors, batch mixers, or heating cycles in automated equipment. The device integrates a synchronous motor, clutch, and cam switch assembly to deliver repeatable timing cycles suited for panel mounting in industrial control cabinets.
Control power is taken from a single-phase 120 VAC source at 60 Hz, so no separate low-voltage supply is required. The dial can be set anywhere from the 4.5-minute minimum to the 150-minute full scale, and its 2-minute divisions allow quick selection of coarse increments. Once a period is chosen, the unit repeats within ±45 seconds, a tolerance adequate for nonprecision sequencing. When the relay closes, it can pass 10 A at 120 VAC to downstream contactors or solenoids. The timer has a 28 ms pull-in interval, a 17 ms dropout interval, and a 0.5-second reset, helping prevent contact chatter during rapid cycling. Internally, the core motor draws 2.45 VA while the magnetic clutch absorbs 10.5 VA during engagement, keeping the total burden modest for typical control transformers. The index assembly has 15 numbered terminals that separate the timing, motor, clutch, and load circuits for straightforward wiring.
Mechanical life is rated for 250,000 operations, so the cam and contact set can withstand long duty cycles in high-volume equipment. The countdown is visible through the water-resistant window and housing, and the molded ABS enclosure withstands oils and incidental moisture found on factory floors. The sealed case also protects the synchronous drive from metal dust, helping preserve timing accuracy over extended operation. Its enclosure provides additional protection against splash exposure in packaging lines and material-handling stations. Secure panel mounting helps the timer remain stable when installed near equipment that produces routine vibration.
