The HP53A6 is an electromechanical panel-mount timer manufactured by Danaher as part of the Timers and Controllers series. Designed for machine sequence control, it energizes or de-energizes circuits after a preset delay, allowing conveyors, packaging stations, or index tables to advance in a fixed time relationship without PLC involvement. A synchronous motor drives a cam stack, and a magnetic clutch transfers motion to the output contacts only when timing is active, so the unit provides repeatable delays for industrial automation panels that need stand-alone timing functions.
Electrical consumption stays low: the motor section draws 2.45 VA while the clutch absorbs 10.5 VA when engaged. The timer connects directly to a 120 VAC control circuit and synchronizes to the mains at 60 Hz, so no frequency converter is required. Time adjustment spans from a 5 min maximum down to a 9 sec minimum; within that span, the dial is graduated in 3 sec increments, giving operators clear divisions for setting. Internal contacts transfer the load only after the armature pulls in, a process that finishes in 28 ms, and they release 17 ms after power is removed. A mechanical reset lever returns the gearing in 0.5 seconds, and the 15 terminals provide the wiring interface.
The timing mechanism maintains a repeatability tolerance of ±1.5 sec, so successive cycles deviate very little even as the ambient temperature varies.
