The HP517A6 timer is manufactured by Danaher and supplied within the Timers and Controllers series. It is a panel-mounted electromechanical delay relay that coordinates short process intervals in conveyors, packaging machines, and similar automated equipment. By coupling a synchronous motor to a dry-contact output, the device inserts a precise pause between a command signal and the downstream load, allowing repeatable machine sequencing from a simple two-wire control circuit.
The unit operates from a nominal input of 120 VAC at an industrial mains frequency of 60 Hz. Once energized, the calibrated dial can span a full-scale interval of 5 seconds; each graduation on the dial equals 0.05 seconds, while the lowest selectable setting is 1/6 second. Over repeated cycles, the timing error remains within ±0.05 seconds, so the delay stays consistent even as the ambient temperature changes. During timing, the motor draws a 2.45 VA burden, and a separate 10.5 VA clutch burden appears only when the contact transfers. The timer accepts up to 15 field wires on its numbered terminals and fastens to brackets with 8-32 screws for straightforward cabinet integration.
