The control circuit is energized at 120 VAC and operates at a line frequency of 60 Hz, eliminating the need for a separate power transformer in most North American panels. Momentary energization can draw up to 10 A of inrush current, so upstream contacts must tolerate that surge before the motor settles to its running load. Operators can select delays up to 30 seconds, with coarse settings made on the front dial and 0.5-second graduations assisting with fine adjustments. The shortest selectable interval is one second, and each cycle repeats with a tolerance of ±0.15 seconds, so batch durations remain consistent.
