The HG101A6 timer is produced by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. Designed as a plug-in repeat-cycle unit, it uses a synchronous unidirectional motor to advance an internal cam that actuates separate switch contacts. In automated machinery, the device generates regular on-and-off sequences to coordinate pumps, conveyors, or heaters that must cycle at fixed intervals and maintain steady throughput.
Power is supplied at 120 VAC and 60 Hz, and the timer draws only 2.5 VA, allowing it to operate from low-burden control transformers. Two cam tracks operate two SPDT contact sets, and each set can switch an independent load or provide Form C logic to a controller. The contacts support a 10 A resistive load at 120 VAC, allowing direct switching of compatible resistive equipment without an interposing relay. At that maximum load, the contacts have an electrical service life of 250,000 operations. The timer has a total cycle of 60 seconds, and the independent front dials allow individual adjustment of the on and off durations within that period. At the end of each cycle, the cam begins the sequence again without requiring an external trigger. Repeat accuracy remains within 0.5% of the dial setting, helping successive cycles maintain consistent timing.
Contact timing can be fine-tuned because the cam lobes permit an overlap or dwell of 1.5% of the total cycle. This adjustment allows both output poles to remain energized briefly when machinery requires make-before-break sequencing. The motor maintains a constant cam speed to limit timing errors during continuous operation, while its unidirectional rotation keeps the mechanism straightforward. Mechanical life is rated for 10,000,000 operations, providing extended service in applications such as indexing tables and batch feeders. The switch assembly uses silver-cadmium-oxide contacts, which resist electrical arcing and contact wear during repeated switching.
