Product Description:
The DA1717A3 is a plug-in solid-state timer manufactured by Danaher for the Timers and Controllers series. It provides programmable on-delay and off-delay functions that control when a relay coil energizes and de-energizes, keeping conveyors, pumps, and batch feeders on a fixed schedule. Installed alongside contactors or PLC I/O, the device counts power-line cycles to generate repeatable timing pulses, reducing the need for software counters and simplifying retrofit panels where precise cycling is required.
Nominal control power is 120 VAC, allowing direct connection to a standard plant power source. The energized interval can be set as short as 48 seconds or extended to 8 minutes, providing flexibility for brief tests or longer process holds. After the relay drops, the idle phase can be adjusted independently, making symmetrical or asymmetrical duty cycles easy to program. The unit tolerates a momentary loss of power; with dropout immunity of 20 ms, the internal count continues through brief brownouts. Built-in surge suppression withstands disturbances of 600 V peak for 50 µs without shifting the selected setting. Across the chosen span, the oscillator maintains a repeatability of ±0.1% of the setting or 25 ms, so successive cycles do not drift from the selected duration.
Rapid turnaround between cycles is possible because the reset circuitry clears in 65 ms. At power-up, the output remains inhibited for only 30 ms, giving upstream logic a predictable settling window. The assembly operates at ambient temperatures from 0 to 60 °C and withstands 2.5 G of vibration between 10 and 100 Hz, making it suitable for mounting on moving machinery or door panels. Mechanical relays are eliminated, so there are no contacts that can chatter under shock. High-frequency noise on the power supply is filtered, helping the timer maintain stable operation near electrically noisy equipment. The on-delay and off-delay potentiometers are sealed to prevent timing drift caused by dust or humidity.
