The CX312A6 multifunction timer-counter is produced by Danaher as part of the Timers and Controllers series. In an automation panel, it accumulates pulse counts or measures elapsed intervals so that PLCs, conveyors, and batch processes receive repeatable on-and-off sequencing. The unit integrates a display and relay outputs, allowing basic timing or counting logic to operate without a separate controller. Its combined functions make it suitable for applications that require an event count, a timed response, or relay actuation after a programmed interval.
Primary power and sensor inputs share a single supply of 120 VAC at 50/60 Hz. The instrument can also accept 120 VDC count pulses, while its AC counting input processes incoming edges through terminal 15. Users can set durations from a minimum of 0.001 seconds to a maximum of 199 hours and 59 minutes, and all selections appear on a 4½-digit LCD with 0.5-inch characters. The display supports numeric values as high as 19,999, providing ample capacity for detailed counting tasks. After power is applied, the device becomes ready within 300 ms, and a subsequent reset requires only 30 ms. Timing repeatability remains within ±0.1% or 35 ms, helping the controller maintain consistent dwell periods over extended production runs. The large characters also make the displayed value easier to read when the timer-counter is mounted inside an automation panel.
Two instantaneous Form C contacts and two delayed Form C contacts operate motor starters, indicators, or similar control circuits. The instantaneous contacts respond directly to the applicable control condition, while the delayed contacts switch according to the programmed timing or counting sequence. Each pole carries up to 10 A at 120 VAC, allowing the timer-counter to switch moderate electrical loads directly. Users select the desired operating point through pushbuttons, and the controller retains the selected value with a setting accuracy of ±0.1% or 50 ms. Mechanical endurance reaches 20 million operations, supporting applications in which machinery indexes or cycles frequently. The independent contact arrangements also allow immediate and delayed actions to be assigned to different portions of a machine sequence.
