Product Description:
The C628-2000 is a multifunction counter and time controller produced by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. Designed for panel mounting in automated machinery, the unit accepts quadrature pulse trains from encoders and uses them to track position, speed, or elapsed cycles while also providing setpoint-based relay or solid-state outputs for process sequencing. By combining counting, timing, and basic control in a single 1/8-DIN housing, it reduces wiring and simplifies small logic tasks on packaging, conveying, and assembly equipment.
The count input section presents an input impedance of 4.7 kΩ, so standard 5 V or 12 V sensors can drive it without excessive current draw. A logic high threshold of at least 3.0 VDC and a logic low threshold of no more than 2.0 VDC provide clear switching margins that tolerate field noise. The instrument processes pulses at frequencies up to 5 kHz, allowing accurate measurement from high-speed rotary encoders. The controller updates outputs within a 25 ms response time, minimizing the delay between reaching a preset and energizing actuators. These electrical limits keep the unit compatible with NPN open-collector sources while protecting the input against voltages up to its 30 VDC absolute rating.
A red seven-segment LED display shows six primary digits that are 18 mm high, providing clear visibility across typical operator stations. The molded bezel and keypad have a NEMA 4X and IEC IP65 rating, sealing the electronics against dust, oil, and washdown fluids when mounted through a 45 × 92 mm panel cutout. Average power consumption remains at 4 W, leaving ample power capacity in crowded control cabinets. The onboard SPDT relays are rated for resistive loads of 2 A at 110 VAC, allowing them to control compatible solenoids or lamps directly. Where silent and fast switching is needed, an NPN open-collector output provides up to 100 mA for compatible PLC inputs or solid-state drivers without the wear associated with mechanical contacts.
