The BRE9A6 is an electromechanical interval timer manufactured by Danaher as part of the Timers and Controllers series. Intended for control cabinets, the module delays the energizing of a load for a preset period, providing orderly sequencing for pumps, fans, or conveyor sections that cannot start simultaneously. It accommodates 16 AWG field wiring and provides nine screw terminals, including a dedicated common terminal. By performing its timing function with a sealed, motor-driven mechanism, it removes software complexity from small automated assemblies and provides a straightforward method of controlling basic start sequences.
Nominal control power is supplied at 120 VAC, and the timer continues to operate while the mains supply remains within the +10%/-15% input range. The internal synchronous motor operates at an industrial line frequency of 50/60 Hz, maintaining calibrated timing across compatible regional power systems. The front dial provides a 30-minute timing span, after which the DPDT relay closes and can carry up to 10 A of load current or switch a 1/4-horsepower motor at either 120 or 240 VAC. From the moment voltage is applied, the coil reaches its operating point within 150 ms. De-energizing the timer and preparing it for the next cycle requires a reset time of only 1 ms. The unit operates in Standard Start mode, which means timing begins immediately when control power is applied.
Timing consistency is supported by a 3% FS dial accuracy and cycle-to-cycle repeatability of ±0.25% FS, helping the timer produce consistent delays during repeated operating cycles. The total burden on the supply line is only 1.5 W, allowing multiple timers to operate in one cabinet without placing a substantial demand on the control-power supply. The device remains stable from a minimum operating temperature of -23 °C to a maximum ambient temperature of 60 °C, making it suitable for unconditioned enclosures near process equipment. Captive terminal screws simplify installation by remaining attached to the terminal assembly while conductors are inserted. They also seat firmly against stripped conductors to help maintain secure electrical contact under normal cabinet vibration.
