The BRE6A6 is a plug-in time-delay relay produced by Danaher for the Timers and Controllers series. It provides an adjustable delay that switches contacts after a preset interval, allowing conveyors, heaters, or sequential logic circuits to start or stop in a set order. A Lexan housing shields the internal mechanism from dust and accidental impact. The standard start mode begins timing as soon as the 120 VAC control line energizes the coil, eliminating the need for an external trigger.
The relay covers a broad operating span, beginning with an activation period of 150 ms before the first contact change. Scale calibration accuracy is within 3% of full scale, providing predictable delays across the entire range. The front dial is marked in 5-second increments for quick setting adjustments, and it allows a maximum delay of 150 seconds for slow sequencing tasks. Fine adjustments down to 1.5 seconds support short-cycle operations such as indexers or ejectors in packaging equipment. Mechanical cams linked to the knob translate the selected value into a precise pneumatic or electronic timing circuit, supporting consistent actuation during repeated operating cycles.
The output side handles up to 10 A on resistive loads or ¼ HP on motors. It can also switch ½ A at 125 VDC or ¼ A at 240 VDC, making the device suitable for panels with AC and DC circuits. Internal electronics draw only 1.5 W, minimizing heat in crowded enclosures. After de-energization, the contacts return to their initial state in 1 ms, and typical repeatability is ±¼% of full scale, keeping cycle-to-cycle variation low. A minimum setpoint of 2% of full scale prevents inadvertent zero-delay operation. The timer accepts control power at 50/60 Hz from a 120 VAC source. It connects through a socket base with 9 screw terminals and accommodates wiring up to 16 AWG for field installation.
