Product Description:
The BRE4A6 delay timer is manufactured by Danaher as part of its Timers and Controllers series. This stand-alone module introduces accurate time delays to relays, solenoids, and indicator circuits used in machine sequencing and process equipment, allowing a fixed interval to be implemented without programmable logic. It is intended for panel builders who require a compact, surface-mounted device for controlling moderate motor, lighting, and indicator loads. Its Form C output contact supports switching functions that require both normally open and normally closed contact paths.
The BRE4A6 operates from a 120 VAC supply synchronized with facility power at 50/60 Hz, so no transformer is needed in common control circuits. Once energized, the timer can be adjusted from a minimum of 2 seconds to a full range of 30 seconds, with intermediate graduations every 0.3 seconds on the front dial. An internal RC network establishes the selected delay, and the relay contacts transfer after an activation time of 150 ms, which is fast enough for most interlock functions. When closed, the contacts can carry 10 A at 120/240 VAC, supporting pilot-duty motors and resistive heaters. The nine-pin base simplifies wiring, while the Lexan enclosure resists oil and cleaning fluids. A surface-mount bracket positions the dial for convenient access inside a control panel.
The timer resets in 1 ms, permitting rapid retriggering in cyclic machinery without cumulative timing errors. Power consumption remains low at 1.5 W, limiting heat buildup inside crowded enclosures. Dial calibration remains within 3% of full scale, while statistical repeatability is maintained within ±¼% over identical cycles. Wiring terminals accept 16 AWG conductors, accommodating a common wire size for industrial control panels. The integral pilot light provides a visible indication when the coil is energized. The compact enclosure and accessible dial allow the timer to be mounted where its delay setting and operating status can be viewed without disturbing adjacent control components.
