The BRE10A6 is a single-function time-delay relay produced by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. In automated machinery, the device inserts a precise pause between an initiating signal and the energizing of downstream loads. This delay allows pumps, heaters, or conveyors to start in the required order while preventing inrush or sequencing errors.

The relay is powered from a control bus at 120 VAC, matching common panel supplies at either 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Inside the enclosure, a synchronous motor and cam assembly provide a maximum timing window of 60 minutes. The dial face is subdivided into 2-minute increments, and the smallest user-selectable delay is 0.6 minutes. Once a start command is received, the mechanism engages within 150 ms, after which the contacts carry up to 10 A and 1/4 HP at 120/240 VAC to control fractional-horsepower motors or resistive heaters. Consumption of the timing circuit itself is limited to 1.5 W, so heat rise inside densely populated panels is minimal. Repeatability of ±0.25% FS ensures that successive cycles remain closely aligned with the set value when identical dwell periods are required throughout a shift. Terminations land on a nine-point screw block that accepts stranded or solid conductors up to 16 AWG.

The relay clears for the next cycle within a 1 ms reset period, allowing rapid rearming in indexing equipment. It maintains rated performance across an ambient temperature range of -23 to 60 °C, so it can be mounted near doors or in lightly conditioned enclosures. Final set-point error is limited by a setting accuracy of 3% FS, providing predictable offsets when multiple units are calibrated side by side. The control bus tolerates a voltage variation of +10%/-15%, so the timing motor continues to operate when long feeder runs or supply sag affect the incoming voltage. All components are arranged for surface mounting, keeping the case flush with a back panel and leaving room for raceways and cable ducts.
