The B506-2001 is a panel-mounted timer/controller produced by Danaher for the Timers and Controllers series. Housed in a 48 × 48 × 85 mm enclosure, it fits compactly into operator stations and machine panels where sequential timing or event counting is required. Within an automation cell, it governs solenoids, small motors, or warning circuits by issuing control outputs once its two independent presets are reached, providing a simple method for coordinating process steps without the overhead of a PLC.
The unit operates from a wide input range of 90–240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and draws less than 10 VA, so it imposes minimal demand on a control transformer. Up to 17 programmable modes, including on-delay, interval, and counter functions, are selected using the front keys, and timing can be set in increments as fine as 1 ms. Internal logic recognizes a new start signal after the input remains active for 21 ms. An output change occurs no later than 15 ms after the setpoint is reached, limiting response lag in high-speed indexers. Dual preset capability allows the operator to program two separate thresholds that energize the pair of SPDT relays in sequence. Support for NPN or dry-contact triggers accommodates transistor sensors and simple switch contacts on the input side.
The relay block has a 5 A resistive rating, allowing it to switch moderate power loads directly, and the control input presents an impedance of 10 kΩ so it does not burden low-current sensors. Installation is possible through a 45 × 45 mm panel cutout or on a DIN rail using an accessory clip. Wiring is completed through an 11-pin plug-in socket, which simplifies connection and removal. The operator reads set and elapsed values on a dual-line, four-digit, seven-segment LED display. The display provides access to preset A, preset B, and the real-time count, reducing the need for external indicators.
