Product Description:
The A103-006 is an electronic counter and timer assembled by Danaher for the Timers and Controllers series. Intended for direct installation in compact control panels, the module combines pulse counting with preset timing so equipment builders can monitor production totals, trigger alarms, or sequence operations without assigning these functions to a PLC. It uses low-power CMOS logic and an internal lithium backup cell to maintain stored data when the main power is removed, making it suitable for intermittent-duty machines.
The display subsystem is a Supertwist LCD that presents six numeric digits with a character height of 12 mm, providing a readout that is visible at arm’s length. The counting circuitry accepts pulse trains up to 30 Hz, and the same rate applies to the remote reset input so totals can be reset by a pushbutton or relay without missed transitions. Operating memory is sustained by a lithium cell regulated at 3 V, which prevents data loss during wiring work or brief outages. The front gasket and molded bezel meet NEMA 4X requirements for resistance to splashing water and corrosion, allowing washdown installation on food-processing machinery. Input recognition uses Schmitt triggering, and any signal above 2.0 VDC registers as a logic-high state for reliable operation with typical sensor outputs.
The counter accepts input pulses as short as 12 ms when they are generated by an NPN transistor or dry-contact closure. These sources provide the timing start input used by the module. The input acceptance range extends to a maximum timing input of 28 VDC, while a logic-low state is recognized whenever the signal falls below 1.0 VDC, helping prevent false increments from low-level electrical noise. The housing measures 36 × 72 × 38 mm and slides through a 33 × 68 mm panel cutout before being secured with rear clips. When external power is unavailable, the internal backup cell preserves the configured presets and accumulated count data until normal power is restored.
