Product Description:
The A103-005 is a panel-mount rate and totalizing counter produced by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. Installed in conveyor lines, flow stations, or batch equipment, it records incremental pulses and calculates real-time rates so a PLC or operator can track production totals without additional signal conditioning. The unit fits through a rectangular cutout in the control door and seals against the front surface. It can operate independently on machines without a dedicated power connection because internal lithium cells supply its primary power.
The backlighting operates from 10 to 28 VDC, allowing the display illumination to connect to low-voltage control buses without an external converter. Characters on the Supertwist LCD are 12 mm high, making process data legible from several feet away. The display presents a 4-digit rate and an 8-digit total, allowing high-resolution accumulation without sacrificing instantaneous speed feedback. A high-speed PNP input accepts square waves up to 10 kHz and has a minimum pulse width of 45 µs, supporting magnetic pickups or encoder channels operating at fast shaft speeds. For washdown or dusty areas, the gasketed bezel carries a NEMA 4X/IP65 rating that resists water jets and fine particulate intrusion when the unit is clamped to a flat panel.
The primary power comes from coin cells that provide 5 years with one cell or 10 years with two cells, allowing multishift operation without line wiring or frequent maintenance stops. The electronics remain accurate from 0 to 55 °C, covering most indoor industrial environments. Behind the enclosure, the circuitry projects only 39 mm, leaving space for wiring ducts in shallow cabinets. The required panel opening measures 33 × 68 mm and matches commonly available punch tools. A separate low-speed channel accepts dry-contact signals at up to 30 Hz for use with mechanical sensors. Totalizer scaling factors from 0.0001 to 99.9999 allow incoming pulses to correspond directly to gallons, parts, or linear distance.
