Product Description:
The A103-004 is a microcontroller-based panel timer and event counter manufactured by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. Designed for machine tools, packaging lines, and process equipment, it tallies input pulses or measures elapsed time so a PLC or operator can sequence operations or flag maintenance points. Four numeric characters appear on the LED display, allowing totals or elapsed time to be read at a glance. Front-panel keys provide access to reset and preset functions without requiring the enclosure to be opened.
Its input stage accepts DC signals up to 28 VDC, allowing direct connection to proximity switches or photoeyes without additional conditioning. When the high-speed channel is selected, the counter registers transitions at up to 10 kHz, provided each pulse remains high for at least 45 µs. The alternative low-speed path processes sensor outputs at 30 Hz with a corresponding minimum pulse width of 12 ms, making it suitable for mechanical contacts. For magnetic pickups, the instrument senses waveforms as low as 0.2 V peak. These input options support electronic sensors, mechanical switches, and low-level magnetic pickup signals in a range of counting and timing applications.
The unit is sized for DIN cutouts and installs from the front of the enclosure. Its rectangular case measures 36 × 72 mm, while the base extends 39 mm behind the bezel, allowing it to fit inside shallow control boxes. Metal retaining clips lock into a 33 × 68 mm panel opening and maintain alignment when machinery vibrates. Characters on the LED are 12 mm high, providing clear visibility from several feet away. Count data is retained by an internal lithium cell rated at 3 V, eliminating the need for external memory when power is removed. Its mass is only 64 g, which reduces stress on light-gauge panels. The compact housing leaves additional enclosure space available for wiring and nearby control components.
