The 81E2A604 is a panel-mounted time-delay relay built by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. It inserts a controllable pause between the energizing signal and the output contacts so machine sequences can be synchronized, motors can start gradually, or safety interlocks can clear before power is reapplied. By providing repeatable timing in the seconds range, the device simplifies automation logic that would otherwise require PLC resources. It uses an electromechanical contact set to route AC or DC loads after the selected delay expires.
It is powered by a nominal 120 VAC supply at 60 Hz, and the coil remains within tolerance when the line voltage varies by +10% or -15%. Overall timing repeatability is maintained within ±1.5%, while a separate fixed-time calibration error of ±5% applies to single-shot settings. For insulation integrity, the relay withstands 1500 Vrms between isolated circuits and provides a minimum insulation resistance of 100 MΩ at 500 VDC. The DPDT contact configuration allows two independent circuits to be switched simultaneously.
