The device inserts an adjustable pause after coil power is removed, allowing actuators, motor starters, or safety interlocks to disengage in a controlled sequence. By adding this delay to a machine’s control logic, the relay allows trapped energy to vent or motion to stop fully before the next step of an automated process begins. This operating sequence can support applications that require an orderly transition after the control signal is removed.
This relay is energized from a control line rated at 120 VAC. The design tolerates input variations of +10% to -15% around the nominal voltage and operates with a standard 60 Hz plant supply. Output switching is handled by a DPDT contact set, providing two isolated poles that can route both power and feedback signals. Each pole is rated for 10 A at 250 VAC, allowing direct control of small motors, heaters, or solenoids without an auxiliary contactor. The coil, contacts, and base insulation withstand up to 1500 V RMS of dielectric stress, while the insulation resistance remains at least 100 MΩ to minimize leakage. Successive timing cycles deviate by no more than ±1.5%, helping the delay remain consistent throughout the unit’s electrical service life of 100,000 operations.
The release sequence starts when the control voltage is removed, and contact transfer is completed after a 30 ms drop-out interval. The relay is ready for the next command after the coil recovers in 16 ms. The time delay can be set as low as 0.2 s for fast interlocks or extended to 2 s for longer purge or dwell periods. This adjustable range accommodates machine functions that require different release intervals without changing the relay. Operation is permitted at ambient temperatures from -10 °C to 40 °C, allowing the device to function on unheated plant floors and inside ventilated control cabinets. Proper enclosure ventilation helps keep the relay within this operating range when nearby equipment generates heat.
