The 744386-241 is an electromechanical totalizing counter manufactured by Danaher within the Timers and Controllers series. Designed for panel-mount installation on production machinery, the unit increments a mechanical display whenever a control relay or PLC output sends a voltage pulse. By logging each operation cycle, it supports scheduled lubrication, tool changes, and batch handling without relying on software records. Because the register is mechanical, the accumulated count is retained through power interruptions and remains unaffected by electrical noise commonly found in industrial automation.
The counter accepts signals at rates up to 600 cpm, meaning the ratchet can follow ten on-off cycles per second without skipping a count. To protect the solenoid winding, the control input should not be energized for more than a 50% duty cycle, and each energized period must remain below the 5 min maximum. Reliable registration also requires a minimum on/off transition time of 50 ms, giving the wheels enough time to latch before the next stroke begins. During operation, the instrument draws only 6 W from its power source, so it generates little heat inside crowded panels.
