Product Description:
The KT4005-00 is a variable-frequency drive produced by Danaher in the NEXTDRIVE Frequency Drives series. Installed inside a control cabinet, the unit modulates three-phase supply power so induction or synchronous motors can operate at controlled speeds and torque levels in conveyors, mixers, and general motion systems on automated lines. By synthesizing adjustable output voltage and frequency, the drive enables process tuning without mechanical gear changes or throttling. It serves as the central power stage between the plant power supply and the connected motor load.
The input section supports a maximum current of 32 A RMS and connects through screw terminals sized for 10 mm² conductors; wiring with a cross-sectional area of less than 6 mm² is not permitted. At the output, the inverter can deliver a continuous phase current of 5 A RMS and short bursts of up to 10 A RMS while producing up to 3 × 460 V across the motor terminals. Frequency is adjustable from zero to 4000 Hz, allowing the same platform to drive high-speed spindles and slow-turning applications. Built-in monitoring trips the drive if conductor temperature or input current exceeds the permitted limits. This protective response helps prevent excessive thermal or electrical stress on upstream fuses and downstream motor windings.
The enclosure has an IP20 rating, so the drive must be mounted inside a ventilated panel while providing basic protection against accidental finger contact during operation. Thermal management relies on airflow across the heat sink, and the electronics dissipate 200 W under the rated load. The unit can absorb a momentary load step of up to 150% of the nominal load during acceleration events, while its continuous overload capacity is 120%. The power stage is optimized for motors rated at approximately 2.5 kW, and this frame size does not require an external brake resistor for dynamic braking. The drive has an installed mass of 29 kg, which must be considered when selecting cabinet supports and lifting points. Adequate panel ventilation and structural support help maintain stable operation while accommodating the heat output and physical load of the installed unit.
