The HSD351024KA4 Heavy Duty Optical Encoder is engineered by Danaher for demanding motion control applications. This model is designed specifically for mill duty environments. With a robust stainless steel structure and direct shaft mounting, it ensures long term performance and field serviceability.
The HSD351024KA4 heavy duty optical encoder supports a resolution range from 1 to 20,000 pulses per revolution (PPR). It uses a two channel quadrature output format (A and B) with an optional index channel (Z) and complementary outputs. The waveform generated by this encoder is a squarewave with rise and fall times of less than 1 microsecond into a 1000 pF load. This unit incorporates a hollow bore configuration that allows direct shaft mounting. It accommodates shaft diameters from 6 mm to 28 mm or 1/4" to 1.25" with electrical isolation up to 1.125". The mating shaft length requirement is 1.25" minimum and 1.60" recommended. Operating torque values include 11.0 in-oz starting torque at 25 °C and 5.0 in-oz running torque at ambient conditions. Shaft speed capacity of this encoder is up to 6000 RPM with IP64 enclosure rating above 5000 RPM. The bearings of this model conform to ABEC 3 standards. The mounting is flexible with multiple tether options provided.
The design of this HSD351024KA4 heavy duty optical encoder features a field serviceable latching connector for ease of maintenance along with dual isolated output options for redundancy. A stainless steel clamp enhances mounting integrity under high mechanical load conditions. This Dynapar series encoder functions reliably across a wide temperature span. Its standard operating range is from – 40 °C to + 85 °C with an extended limit of – 40 °C to + 100 °C.
