Product Description:
The 608600-0001 cable is supplied by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It is intended for position-feedback wiring between rotary encoders and motion controllers in industrial automation cells. The cable routes incremental or absolute encoder signals while supplying the small currents required by the sensing electronics, allowing a machine controller to read shaft angle or linear position without signal distortion caused by unsuitable cabling. This arrangement supports stable communication between the encoder and the connected control equipment during continuous machine operation.
On the encoder end, the assembly terminates in an M12 circular connector. This plug uses a D-coded configuration, so its keyed orientation reserves two contacts for differential signal pairs and two for power, reducing wiring errors during installation or maintenance. The insert has male contacts; therefore, the mating component must have a complementary female interface. Inside the jacket, the harness carries four leads, aligning with A-quad-B or RS-422 encoder outputs that require two channels, a VCC connection, and a common return. Each conductor is made of stranded copper and has a cross-section of 24 AWG, balancing flexibility with sufficient current capacity for 5 V sensor rails that are typically limited to a few hundred milliamps.
The opposite end has flying leads, allowing the conductors to connect to terminal blocks, solder lugs, or drive connectors that suit the control panel. Within the molded plug, the contact insert has a 4-pin layout that aligns with the channel allocation established by EN 61076-2-101. The cable carries the Dynapar brand, and its impedance and shielding characteristics are suited to the company’s optical and magnetic encoder families without requiring additional adapters. As part of the Dynapar Encoder Cables series, the cable uses the outer sheath material, color coding, and strain-relief dimensions associated with the same product line. These common physical features support consistent routing and connection practices across multiple machine designs.
