Product Description:
The 1400664-0015 cable assembly is produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It serves as the signal path between a rotary encoder and a motion controller, carrying complementary output pairs that help limit electrical noise in automated equipment. By combining compatible connectors and conductor gauges in a single harness, the product simplifies the installation of feedback devices on packaging lines, conveyor systems, and other machinery. Accurate shaft position and speed data can pass through the assembly for use in closed-loop motion control.
The connector at the encoder end uses six contacts arranged in a keyed shell, allowing the designated feedback and power connections to be aligned correctly. The conductors support a 6-pin line-driver interface, which transmits balanced signal pairs that resist common-mode interference over longer cable runs. Mechanical coupling on the feedback side is provided by a female MS connector with a sealed housing that helps protect the contacts from dust. The controller end has flying leads that can connect to screw terminals or solder lugs inside the control cabinet. Because the link transmits a differential waveform, paired conductors help preserve signal integrity in areas with electrical noise. The 22 AWG stranded copper conductors remain flexible enough for routing through moving cable carriers and confined machine spaces.
At the controller interface, the open power conductors use 24 AWG wire for typical 5 V or 12 V encoder supply circuits. These open conductors are tinned and color-coded, making individual connections easier to identify and terminate within the cabinet. The gauge selection balances current capacity, cable size, and flexibility without placing excessive stress on the surrounding insulation during repeated movement. The separate shield drain strands simplify cabinet-side grounding and provide a direct path for interference collected by the cable shield. The outer jacket and conductor arrangement accommodate compatible strain-relief hardware and routing brackets used with Dynapar feedback equipment. Proper grounding and secure strain relief help prevent signal disruption caused by vibration, cable movement, or electromagnetic interference near motors and drive electronics.
