Product Description:
The 1400664-0010 cable is produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoder Cables series and serves as a dedicated harness between a rotary encoder and its controller. It carries incremental or absolute feedback signals, power, and common reference lines within one jacket, allowing a single assembly to be routed instead of several individual conductors. This arrangement reduces wiring complexity and maintains organized signal paths for high-speed position loops in automated packaging equipment, metal-cutting machines, and indexing tables. The combined cable also helps keep encoder wiring separate from surrounding power conductors that may generate electrical noise.
On the encoder side, the assembly terminates in an MS female connector that mates directly with standard size 10SL receptacles found on many Dynapar sensors. Signal transmission follows a 6-pin line-driver format, allowing the connected controller to receive complementary A, B, and Z channels for noise-resistant quadrature decoding. The PVC insulation system is rated for temperatures up to +105 °C, allowing continuous operation near warm motor housings. The cable remains flexible at temperatures as low as -20 °C, so the jacket does not become excessively stiff in unheated workshops. All signal pairs are wired for differential output, ensuring that each logic transition is referenced to an opposite-polarity partner rather than to ground. This wiring arrangement reduces common-mode interference picked up along the machine frame and supports reliable transmission over the installed cable route.
At the junction-box end, the conductors are stripped and tinned as flying leads, allowing termination on screw clamps, insulation-displacement connectors, or solder lugs. The cable contains six individual conductors, so each encoder function is carried by a separate color-coded wire without multiplexing. Tinned ends provide clean contact surfaces and simplify attachment to the selected terminals. The open-ended arrangement also permits the conductors to be cut and organized according to the available space inside the enclosure. Shield drain material and filler yarn are removed at the termination area to keep the prepared end compact for routing through cabinet glands. The surrounding PVC jacket protects the bundled conductors from ordinary abrasion while preserving the flexibility needed around machine frames and control enclosures.
