Product Description:
The 1400635-0005 cable assembly is supplied by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It links shaft-mounted incremental or absolute encoders to motion controllers or drives in industrial automation, carrying power and position signals from the sensor to the control cabinet. The molded circular interface on the encoder side provides a secure connection, while individually stripped conductors at the controller end support direct wiring. Within a machine, the cable can be routed through drag chains or conduit while keeping differential signals isolated from adjacent power conductors.
On the encoder side, a 10-pin female MS connector mates with encoders that use a military-style circular interface. The dielectric jacket has an opal finish, making the cable easy to identify during maintenance. Signal transmission uses a differential pair arrangement that improves noise immunity when cable runs share trays with variable-frequency drive wiring. Inside the shell, eight control cores are connected to solder cups, providing 8 leads for incremental A, B, and Z channels and their complementary signals while retaining spare capacity. The compact pin arrangement keeps the shield termination short, helping preserve the integrity of the return path.
The opposite end has a flying-lead termination, allowing conductors to connect directly to terminal blocks, solder posts, or crimp contacts without additional adapters. The cable measures 5 ft long, making it suitable for short encoder-to-drive distances in servo gearboxes and compact conveyors. Its 10-conductor construction balances flexibility with the current capacity required by typical +5 V encoder electronics. The tinned shield braid creates a low-resistance grounding path and helps protect signal channels from electromagnetic interference. The jacket thickness supports flexible routing, while the braid coverage limits electromagnetic emissions near neighboring signal lines.
