Product Description:
The 109209-0015 encoder cable is manufactured by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. This product is a factory-terminated lead set intended to connect rotary encoders to motion controllers and drives in industrial automation. By combining shielded signal pairs, power conductors, and a molded backshell, the assembly provides consistent transmission of incremental counts and index references while resisting the electrical noise and mechanical stress encountered on production equipment.
This unit is supplied as a cable assembly, so each conductor is already cut to length and jacketed, eliminating on-site crimping. At the encoder end, a keyed female MS connector mates directly with compatible Dynapar transducers and aligns contacts according to military circular connector conventions. The interface uses a 10-pin layout that provides individual positions for the differential A, B, and Z channels, as well as the power supply and shield connections. Inside the jacket, the signal bundle is divided into 9 leads, excluding the overall braid, which simplifies wiring and helps minimize crosstalk between signal paths. The cable uses 22 AWG and 24 AWG stranded conductors, balancing flexibility with voltage-drop limits over typical machine-length runs.
The controller side terminates in flying leads, allowing the cable to connect to terminal blocks, solder cups, or custom connectors without cutting the factory seal at the encoder end. Conductor colors follow the Dynapar standard for a differential line driver with index outputs, helping users connect each signal to the correct controller terminal. The conductors support a maximum operating temperature of +105 °C, allowing the cable to be routed near motors and brakes when appropriate spacing and installation practices are observed. The PVC insulation remains pliable at temperatures down to -20 °C, supporting cold starts in unheated industrial facilities. Shielded signal pairs help protect encoder feedback from electromagnetic interference generated by nearby motor power cables, contactors, and variable-frequency drives. The separate power conductors supply the encoder without sharing the differential feedback paths, while the overall braid provides a connection for cable shielding. The molded backshell supports the connector and reduces strain where the cable enters the encoder-side termination.
