Product Description:
The 108596-0005 is an encoder interface cable produced by Danaher and supplied under the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. As a prefabricated interconnect, it links rotary encoders with motion controllers or drives in industrial automation systems, carrying incremental position signals while maintaining shield integrity between sensing and control cabinets. The assembly is designed for installations where a sealed military-style plug must mate with the encoder body and open wire ends terminate on screw terminals or integrated drive connectors at the controller end.
The encoder side uses a 7-pin layout inside a female MS connector shell, a configuration that aligns with standard MIL-C-5015-style receptacles on many Dynapar feedback devices. The encoder transmits differential outputs, so the cable’s conductors are matched for impedance to preserve line balance between the encoder and controller. Downstream receivers expect a line-driver source, and the twisted pairs minimize common-mode noise so that the A and B quadrature edges arrive without skew. Because the opposite end is supplied with flying leads, each conductor can be trimmed to length and its tinned end can be landed directly on a terminal block, eliminating additional field-crimped plugs and reducing potential points of failure.
Inside the jacket are seven conductors, providing a one-to-one mapping for channels A, /A, B, /B, power, ground, and the shield drain. This arrangement simplifies wiring checks during installation and provides the required connections through a single cable. The unit is supplied as a finished cable assembly, removing the need to obtain bulk wire and connector parts separately. Motion systems that rely solely on incremental quadrature benefit from the presence of no index channel, which frees a pin for auxiliary power without requiring a larger connector. The preterminated design also reduces panel wiring time while preserving signal fidelity over typical encoder cable lengths.
