Product Description:
The 108241-0090 encoder cable is provided by Danaher as part of the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It functions as the link between a motion feedback device and the control electronics found in drives, controllers, or position modules. One end attaches directly to the encoder, while the opposite end is prepared for cabinet terminations, providing a pre-engineered harness that maintains signal quality in industrial automation environments. The cable balances mechanical flexibility with electrical protection for reliable operation on moving axes or fixed routes inside machine frames.
At the device end, the cable uses an MS connector configured with a 6-pin female insert, matching standard Dynapar incremental encoders that provide an auxiliary index channel alongside the primary A and B outputs. The conductors are sized at 22/24 AWG, supporting low-level TTL or HTL signals over moderate distances without excessive voltage drop. Braid and foil coverage make the assembly shielded, reducing its susceptibility to motor noise and inverter switching transients that can corrupt position feedback. Internally, the assembly carries six individual leads that correspond to power, A, B, Z, and two complementary reference conductors.
Field termination is simplified because the non-encoder side is supplied with flying leads. Each conductor has a stripped and tinned finish, allowing it to connect to screw, spring, or solder terminals without additional preparation. The wiring uses a single-ended output convention, allowing direct connection to controllers that read discrete encoder channels referenced to a common conductor. The insulation is rated for continuous service at temperatures up to 105 °C and remains flexible at temperatures down to -20 °C. This operating range supports cable routing near motors and inside unheated enclosures while preserving the flexibility needed for installation.
