Product Description:
The 108241-0080 is an encoder cable assembly produced by Danaher within the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. This preterminated cordset links a rotary encoder to a drive or PLC interface, carrying incremental channel signals, supply power, and the reference index pulse. It allows motion controllers to receive the position feedback needed for speed regulation, direction detection, and repeatable machine movement. The shielded design helps protect low-level encoder signals from electrical interference generated by nearby motors, contactors, and power cables.
The assembly has an overall length of 80 feet, allowing an encoder mounted on a gantry or conveyor head shaft to connect to a remote control cabinet without splicing. The encoder end uses a female MS connector that mates directly with many Dynapar incremental encoders. Signal and supply contacts are distributed across six pins, while the other end remains open for direct connection to control equipment. The power and channel conductors use 22 AWG and 24 AWG wire sizes, providing current capacity while maintaining cable flexibility. The cable carries the A and B channels used to determine movement and direction, and it also carries the Z-pulse for position referencing. Its factory-installed connector reduces the amount of field wiring required at the encoder and provides a secure connection at the machine end.
The control-cabinet end has flying leads, allowing each conductor to connect to terminal blocks or drive screw clamps according to the machine’s wiring arrangement. Signal transmission uses a single-ended format, so each channel is measured relative to the common return within the harness. The six-conductor bundle remains compact enough for routing through suitable strain-relief glands and control-cabinet openings. PVC insulation supports continuous operation at temperatures up to +105 °C, making the cable suitable for warm motor compartments and other heated machine areas. It remains flexible at temperatures as low as -20 °C, which supports operation in unheated storage facilities and industrial spaces. Proper separation from high-current wiring can further reduce induced noise and help preserve the integrity of the encoder signals over the full cable length.
