Product Description:
The 108241-0050 cable is produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It functions as a dedicated link between a rotary feedback device and downstream motion controllers in automated machinery. By carrying incremental position signals through a shielded bundle, the assembly maintains timing accuracy over extended machine lengths. This design allows sensors mounted on moving axes to communicate reliably with drives, counters, or PLC modules located in control cabinets.
At the encoder end, an MS connector with a female interface mates directly with the sensor and provides a 6-pin interface, assigning separate contacts to the A, B, supply, and shield circuits. The opposite end terminates in flying leads, allowing individual conductors to connect directly to terminal strips without intermediate plugs. Signal transmission uses a single-ended format, so the receiving device does not require differential inputs. With a reach of 50 ft, the cable can span large gantries while meeting the rise-time limits commonly associated with open-collector outputs. A PVC jacket protects the conductor bundle from routine abrasion during installation and operation. The internal drain conductor helps reduce crosstalk that could otherwise distort incremental data in speed-regulated drives.
The internal wiring supports the feedback requirements of Dynapar model 22 with a marker, providing a dedicated reference pulse through an index channel. The conductor bundle contains 6 leads, giving the zero marker, two quadrature tracks, and power circuits separate electrical paths. This arrangement minimizes impedance imbalance and helps control ground offsets when the sensor moves with the load. Standard MS threading provides a secure connection at the encoder housing, while the unterminated conductors at the opposite end accommodate common terminal arrangements. The shielded construction also helps protect low-level feedback signals from electromagnetic noise generated by nearby motors, contactors, and power wiring. Proper separation from high-current conductors can further preserve signal quality across the full cable length.
