Product Description:
The 108241-0045 is a preassembled feedback cable manufactured by Danaher for use with rotary encoders. It provides the physical link between a Dynapar incremental encoder and a downstream motion controller. The cable carries position and timing signals across installation distances commonly encountered in conveyor systems, presses, packaging equipment, and other automated machinery. Its assembled design eliminates the need to attach an encoder-side connector during installation, while the unterminated controller end accommodates different control cabinet layouts.
This model is supplied as a continuous 45 ft cable, allowing direct routing from the motor area to the control cabinet without intermediate joints. The encoder end has a keyed 6-pin interface that helps maintain correct pin alignment during connection. A rugged female MS connector provides secure mating and helps protect the connection from industrial contaminants. The opposite end has flying leads, allowing individual conductors to connect directly to terminal blocks, solder lugs, or another compatible interface selected for the application. Signal transmission uses a single-ended configuration, in which each signal channel is referenced to a common return rather than transmitted over a differential pair. This arrangement simplifies termination for installations with moderate electrical noise and compatible encoder inputs.
The cable supports an integrated index channel, allowing the controller to receive a once-per-revolution reference pulse for homing, position verification, or velocity calibration. The internal harness contains six leads for the typical A, B, Z, power, and return assignments used by incremental encoders. Its conductors combine 22 AWG and 24 AWG copper wire, balancing the current requirements of the supply conductors with the flexibility needed by the signal conductors. The assembly belongs to the Dynapar Encoder Cables series and follows the associated conductor color-coding and shielding conventions. These established wiring conventions help maintain clear channel identification when the flying leads are connected inside a control cabinet. Proper routing away from high-current motor cables can further protect the single-ended signals from electrical interference during operation.
