Product Description:
The 108241-0030 is an encoder cable produced by Danaher for the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It connects a rotary encoder to downstream control electronics in automated machinery. By combining a matched connector on the sensor side with prepared conductors on the controller side, the assembly simplifies installation and maintains consistent signal quality in motion-control systems. Its design supports incremental feedback devices commonly mounted on motors, conveyors, and gearboxes, where dependable transmission of position data is required. The prepared cable also reduces the amount of connector assembly and conductor routing required inside the control cabinet.
At the encoder end, the cable terminates in a female MS connector, which provides a threaded circular interface that resists disconnection caused by vibration. The cable contains 6 leads for the encoder’s incremental feedback, power, and reference circuits, while the corresponding shell uses a six-position insert to maintain a direct connection with the transducer. The opposite end has flying leads that can connect directly to terminal blocks or solder lugs in the drive cabinet. Signals are transmitted in a single-ended format, so each channel uses a dedicated conductor and a common return instead of differential pairs. The copper conductors use a size of 22/24 AWG, balancing voltage drop with the flexibility needed for routing through machinery. The threaded connector can also be disconnected without special tools when access to the encoder or surrounding equipment is required.
The assembly includes an embedded drain wire and foil layer, providing continuous shielding that helps protect encoder pulses from interference generated by nearby motor conductors. The product is a cable assembly with an integrated jacket, terminations, and strain relief. An integral index channel is wired through the harness, permitting zero-position referencing for drives that support homing routines. The PVC insulation withstands conductor temperatures up to 105 °C during operation. It remains pliable at temperatures down to -20 °C, supporting installation in heated enclosures and unconditioned industrial areas. The combination of shielding and dedicated signal conductors helps preserve pulse transmission when the cable is routed near power wiring or other sources of electrical noise.
