Product Description:
The 108241-0020 is an encoder interconnect cable produced by Danaher and supplied under the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. Intended for rotary encoder installations, the assembly carries incremental position signals from the sensing head to controllers, drives, or monitoring instruments in automated machinery. Its predetermined conductor count, mating connector, and factory-prepared lead terminations reduce wiring time and help maintain signal integrity over typical machine lengths.
At the encoder end, the cable uses a female MS connector shell built to military-style dimensions. Its contact insert has a 6-pin pattern that aligns with standard Dynapar pinouts for power, A/B quadrature signals, and the index signal. The cable contains six color-coded wires, each identified during assembly. On the control side, the jacket is opened and the copper cores have stripped and tinned ends, allowing direct attachment to compatible terminal blocks or custom connectors without additional wire preparation. Crosstalk rejection is enhanced by the overall braid and foil used in the shielded construction. Power and primary channel pairs use 22 AWG conductors, which provide low voltage drop over moderate distances while retaining the flexibility needed for machine routing.
The flying-lead configuration allows the free conductors to be routed directly to terminal strips, programmable logic controller I/O, or custom connector kits. The signal layout supports controllers and drives that accept single-ended outputs with an index, eliminating the need for a differential line-driver interface. Auxiliary channels, such as reference or remote reset lines, use 24 AWG conductors, which are suitable for low-current logic signals. The PVC insulation and outer jacket have a continuous operating range of -20 °C to +105 °C, allowing the cable to function in heated enclosures and refrigerated areas without excessive softening or embrittlement. The prepared conductors also permit flexible control-side routing when connection points differ among machines, while the terminated encoder end provides a consistent interface to compatible Dynapar equipment.
