Product Description:
The 108241-0005 encoder cable is manufactured by Danaher and supplied under the Dynapar Encoder Cables series. It serves as the signal path between a rotary encoder and a motion controller, carrying A, B, and Z pulses used for position tracking in automated machinery. By delivering conditioned logic levels through a shielded bundle, the assembly helps maintain signal timing for servomotor feedback on conveyors, gantry axes, and indexing tables. The cable is supplied as a discrete harness that connects directly to compatible field encoders without soldering, which reduces wiring errors and simplifies installation on the plant floor.
The harness is intended for a Model 22 incremental encoder with a marker, so its conductors align with the A, B, and Z channels. It supports a single-ended output, in which each signal is referenced to a common conductor rather than paired with a complementary signal. At the encoder end, the bundle terminates in a female MS connector that locks to the mating plug and resists disconnection caused by machine vibration. Inside the PVC jacket are six tinned-copper leads, each color-coded to simplify conductor identification during wiring. The cable is available in 5 ft increments, allowing the selected length to suit the distance between the encoder and controller without leaving unnecessary cable coiled inside the cabinet.
The assembly includes an index channel for the Z pulse, allowing the controller to establish a repeatable positional reference during a homing sequence. The controller end has flying leads that can be crimped into terminals, routed into a terminal block, or attached to a dedicated encoder input module. This unterminated arrangement also allows the conductors to be cut and dressed according to the controller enclosure layout. The circular connector contains six pins, providing a direct contact arrangement for the six internal conductors. Its shielded construction helps protect low-level encoder signals from electromagnetic interference generated by nearby motor power cables, contactors, and variable-frequency drives.
