Product Description:
The 107865-0040 cable belongs to the Dynapar Encoder Cables series from Danaher. It is engineered as a dedicated link between an absolute encoder and a control cabinet, transmitting parallel position words and supply voltage so drives, PLCs, or motion cards can initialize with valid feedback as soon as power is applied. The assembly’s mechanical and electrical design supports factory automation tasks where repeatable position reporting is essential for closed-loop motion.
The mechanical interface is tailored to the AI25 housing, and the shell uses an end-mount orientation that keeps cable strain aligned with the encoder shaft. The encoder side terminates in a female MS connector, which secures the conductors against vibration. Inside the connector, the cable contains 17 color-coded cores made from stranded copper with a conductor size of 24 AWG. These conductors exit the jacket on the controller side as flying leads, allowing each signal to be connected to an individual screw terminal, relay socket, or solder lug. PVC insulation and an overall shield allow the bundle to operate from -20 °C to +80 °C without cracking or softening in typical motor cabinets.
The electrical layout supports a 10/12-bit data width, ensuring that every Gray-code line is present for full resolution. The absolute encoder assigns a unique value to each shaft position, so deterministic feedback is preserved during power cycles. The controller end can be fitted with the military-style MS3106A-20-29S plug supplied with the cable kit, providing keyed engagement and sealing at the panel connection. Signal drivers use a parallel push-pull output scheme, allowing the conductors to source or sink current directly into standard 5 V or 24 V logic inputs without additional line receivers. This direct interface carries the encoder’s position signals to compatible control hardware while the cable shield helps limit electrical interference from nearby motors, contactors, and drive wiring.
