The 262PN is a high-power amplifier manufactured by Copley Controls for the CC High Power Amplifiers series. Intended for motion platforms, magnetic actuators, and large servos, it converts power from a regulated DC bus into finely controlled current or voltage. In automation cells, the module links the system controller to the load, supplying the precise drive signals needed for accurate force or torque production.
Operating flexibility is provided by selectable current or voltage control modes, so the drive can be integrated with feedback loops based on either parameter. Continuous throughput reaches 85 A DC RMS, while momentary events are limited by a peak ceiling of 190 A. The input section withstands up to 300 V from the system’s bulk supply before the shutdown logic intervenes. Heat generated by the output transistors is removed through an air-cooled assembly that combines a conductive heat sink with forced airflow. Single-channel or multiple-channel configurations can be selected to suit the connected system. An onboard comparator detects excessive output current and activates overcurrent protection, allowing normal operation to resume after the fault clears.
High-speed cycles use the amplifier’s pulse capability. It can source 120 A with alternating periods of 100 ms conduction and 100 ms rest while maintaining waveform fidelity when that peak is commanded with a pure sine reference. If the duty window increases to 500 ms, the permissible pulse falls to 106 A. Triangular command trajectories can reach up to 147 A before the error amplifier saturates. For coordinated axes, master-slave functionality allows one 262PN amplifier to mirror another so that their currents track in real time across multiple actuators. This capability supports current synchronization for gantry axes and test stands that use more than one actuator.
