The R22-090-24-R is a digital servo drive module manufactured by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. It functions as the power and control stage between a CANopen motion network and a rotary or linear motor, using resolver feedback to close the current, velocity, and position loops. By accepting a high-voltage DC bus and generating pulse-width-modulated output phases, the unit supplies tightly regulated torque for axes in robotics, packaging equipment, and automated material-handling systems.
The drive can deliver a continuous output of 12 A DC and sustain a peak output of 24 A DC for up to 1 second when rapid acceleration is required. Its continuous power capability is 1.08 kW, while its short-term peak power reaches 2.16 kW for transient overloads. The high-voltage input range extends from +20 V DC to +90 V DC, allowing operation with various unregulated supplies or shared DC buses. The microcontroller updates the current command at 15 kHz, while position and velocity information is refreshed at 3 kHz. A quadrature A/B encoder interface accepts rates up to 2 million lines per second. The minimum PWM pulse width is maintained at 220 ns so switching edges remain within the safe operating area of the power stage.
The current regulation stage operates with a bandwidth of 2.5 kHz, supporting rapid responses to changing torque commands. Switching artifacts are minimized by a PWM ripple frequency of 30 kHz, which helps produce smooth motor current during operation. An analog command port with an input impedance of 5 kΩ allows legacy controllers to provide torque or velocity references without excessively loading their output stages. The auxiliary logic rail requires only 2.5 W, which reduces the load on the cabinet power supply and limits internal heat generation. A resolver interface supplies absolute shaft-angle information for motor commutation and closed-loop motion control.
