The BP2-090-06 is a motion control module produced by Copley Controls and belongs to the Accelnet CanOPEN Modules series. The BP2-090-06 is a dual-axis servo drive module produced by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed for distributed motion networks that use the CANopen protocol, the unit conditions power and closes current, velocity, and position loops for two brushless or brushed motor axes. Within an automation cell, it supplies regulated motor current, accepts encoder feedback, and exchanges process data over the fieldbus, allowing machine controllers to coordinate precise speed, torque, and position profiles.
Two differential analog command channels accept signals over a range of ±10 VDC. Each input is digitized at 12-bit resolution, allowing the drive to translate external setpoints into precise current references. For real-time current regulation, the control loop operates at 16 kHz. Each axis can deliver a continuous phase current of 3 ADC (2.1 ARMS sine), supporting sustained motor operation within the module’s thermal limits. The module provides 18 high-speed, optically isolated digital inputs for limit switches, home switches, and user-assigned functions. Two brake outputs and five optically isolated outputs supplement the digital interface, allowing the module to operate peripheral devices directly.
During dynamic events, the DC bus can supply up to 12 ADC of peak input current. Each axis can reach a burst output of 6 ADC (4.2 ARMS sine) for up to one second, providing additional current for acceleration and short load changes. Stable current control is maintained with a minimum load inductance of 200 µH line-to-line, while the velocity and position loops operate at 4 kHz to track motion commands closely. The encoder interface accepts incremental feedback signals at up to 20 million counts per second, which supports high-resolution encoders on fast-moving axes. A continuous input current rating of 6 ADC accommodates sustained DC bus demand while both axes operate within their continuous output limits.
