Internal Product Review

The BE2-090-20-R is a Copley Controls Accelnet CanOPEN drive module with 10 Adc continuous current and 20 Adc peak current. Resolver feedback with 14-bit resolution supports accurate motion control in demanding servo applications. A 16 kHz current loop rate gives this module especially crisp current regulation.

Product Description:

The BE2-090-20-R is a digital servo drive module produced by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. It mounts close to the motor and communicates motion commands over a CANopen fieldbus, translating network data into precise phase currents for brushless or brushed servomotors. Within an automation cell, the unit delivers tight torque control, allowing PLCs or motion controllers to coordinate multi-axis systems while the drive enforces current loops locally to keep actuators accurate and responsive.

The power stage can supply a continuous output of 10 Adc and deliver up to 20 Adc for short transients lasting 1 s, allowing the motor to overcome breakaway friction or accelerate loads without oversizing the drive. Current regulation is updated at 16 kHz, while velocity and position loops run at 4 kHz; these high rates minimize following error in dynamic applications. A peak input draw of 40 Adc is specified for worst-case events, and the output stage remains stable as long as the connected motor presents at least 200 µH of phase inductance. For analog command sources, the controller accepts a ±10 V signal that is digitized with 12-bit resolution, enabling fine scaling of torque or speed references without excessive quantization noise.

Command versatility is paired with flexible power handling, and the DC bus can operate at voltages from +14 Vdc to +90 Vdc. This range allows the same drive to support battery-powered platforms as well as fixed 24, 48, or 80 V supplies. An analog command span of ±10 Vdc complements CANopen control, providing a fallback interface for legacy systems. Rotor feedback relies on a resolver that is interpolated to 14 bits per electrical revolution and excited by a 2.8 Vrms, 100 mA reference at 8 kHz. This arrangement provides absolute position data that resists electrical noise and supports stable commutation during high-current events.
