Product Description:
The BE2-090-20 module is produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. The unit functions as a compact drive component that interfaces with CANopen networks to regulate current, velocity, and position loops for multiple motor types used in automated machinery. By supplying controlled power to the connected axes and accepting high-rate command signals, it supports the precise motion sequences required on assembly lines, packaging equipment, and semiconductor tools.
For analog interfacing, the drive accepts a differential command span of ±10 VDC that is digitized at 12-bit resolution, enabling fine incremental torque or speed references from external controllers. Each axis can deliver a continuous phase current of 10 A DC, and short bursts up to 20 A DC are available for one second when acceleration demands are higher. Closed-loop regulation is refreshed at a current loop rate of 16 kHz; this high internal frequency minimizes ripple and maintains stability when the load is dynamic. Additional motion channels run at 4 kHz for velocity or position updates, while pulse and direction inputs can be clocked at 2 MHz, allowing tight synchronization with high-speed indexers.
System power is supplied from a bus rated at 90 VDC, providing sufficient overhead for the back EMF generated during rapid deceleration. When digital encoders are used, the module accepts line frequencies up to 5 MHz, so it can track fine-pitch scales without missing counts. Cabinet layouts should accommodate a peak input draw of 40 A DC, although typical continuous consumption is half that value. All electronics are housed in a frame that measures 6.78 × 4.70 × 1.74 in without a heat sink, facilitating direct mounting on cold plates or DIN panels where airflow is limited. Additional interfaces include a 300 mA DC optically isolated output for I/O expansion and a 1.0 A DC brake driver. The module also supports motor inductances as low as 200 µH.
