The AE2-090-30 is a panel-mount servo drive module produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. It interfaces with CANopen networks to regulate brushless or brushed motors in industrial automation, converting command data into controlled motor currents for precise velocity and position tasks. The panel-mount format supports compact installation where multiple axes must be placed close together. Its networked design also lets a central controller coordinate motion, status reporting, and fault handling across the machine. Because it can operate brushed and brushless motors, the module fits a range of axis designs without requiring a different control platform.
This drive can deliver a continuous output of 15 A, which is the steady-state current it can supply without overheating, while short transients are handled by a peak capability of 30 A for up to 1 s. Current is processed through a closed loop that updates at 16 kHz, and the velocity and position loops refresh at 4 kHz, allowing rapid correction of following error. Two 12-bit analog inputs accommodate torque or velocity commands, giving the module a direct way to accept reference signals from nearby controls. Minimum load inductance is 200 µH, which helps prevent excessive ripple at the internally generated 16 kHz PWM carrier. A 500 mA auxiliary supply provides 2.5 W for sensors so external power sources are not required, and the encoder port furnishes 400 mA for feedback electronics.
System integration benefits from the controller’s 20 opto-isolated digital inputs that can latch high-speed events, and 7 digital outputs that report fault or motion flags to a PLC. The housing measures 114 × 73 × 20.6 mm, making it suitable for dense multi-axis racks while still leaving room for airflow. Pulse-width modulation harmonics are spread by a PWM ripple of 32 kHz, reducing acoustic noise and smoothing motor current in low-inductance windings. Its slim profile also helps fit the module into compact panels where spacing between power and signal hardware must be managed carefully.
