The ACP-055-18 is a compact digital servo drive produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed for panel or machine mounting, the drive conditions DC bus energy and delivers controlled current to brushless, brushed, or stepper motors in automated machinery. Through the CANopen interface, it exchanges motion commands and status data with higher-level controllers, supporting precise speed, position, or torque regulation on multi-axis industrial equipment.
The power stage supplies a continuous phase current of 6 Adc and can surge to 18 Adc for up to 1 s when accelerating heavy loads. With these limits, the module delivers a continuous output of 0.32 kW and a peak output of 0.92 kW before thermal foldback engages. The DC input must provide 6.7 Adc during steady operation and may draw 20 Adc during transients, while an auxiliary logic rail limited to 500 mAdc keeps the control electronics active during emergency stops. A minimum load inductance of 200 µH is required to maintain current ripple within design margins, and the low output resistance of 0.075 Ω minimizes bus losses. Motor overtemperature and bus faults are reported through the 12 optically isolated inputs and three sourcing outputs.
Current regulation is executed by a digital loop that refreshes at 15 kHz, while the PWM inverter switches at 30 kHz to shift ripple beyond the audible range. For mixed-mode machines, the stepper command path accepts step-and-direction pulses up to 2 MHz, and an analog reference channel with an impedance of 5 kΩ supports torque mode using external sources. Command mapping, fault flags, and capture inputs occupy the same CANopen address space as the discrete I/O. The aluminum case measures 168 × 99 × 31 mm, allowing multiple drives to share a narrow cabinet bay with minimal airflow spacing.
