The ACM-090-60 is a compact DC-bus servo amplifier built by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Operating as a node on a CANopen network, the module receives motion commands and delivers phase-modulated power to motors used in conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and labeling systems. Its role in industrial automation is to translate high-level position or torque references into precisely regulated motor current while maintaining electrical isolation and processing feedback signals.
In continuous operation, the drive furnishes up to 30 A DC of motor current and a sustained output of 2.7 kW when the DC link remains below the maximum of 90 V DC. Both the current loop and the PWM carrier refresh at 15 kHz, so current regulation, velocity control, and acoustic performance remain stable at high motor speeds. An analog command port with an input impedance of 5 kΩ supports external torque trim. CANopen profile motion is supplemented by a step-and-direction interface that accepts pulses at rates up to 2 MHz. Control integration is simplified by 10 optically isolated digital inputs and two sourcing digital outputs that can be mapped to limits, enable signals, or programmable event flags. Internally, the controller enforces a minimum PWM pulse width of 220 ns and uses a ripple frequency of 30 kHz to reduce motor heating and electromagnetic interference.
For dynamic moves, the amplifier supports a peak current of 60 A DC and can supply up to 5.4 kW for bursts lasting 1 second, giving axes additional torque for acceleration or disturbance rejection. An encoder port counts quadrature or clock-direction feedback at rates up to 8 million counts per second, allowing fine resolution even on high-speed servo motors. Mechanical installation requires only 102 × 69 × 25 mm of panel space, and the compact footprint eases cabinet layout alongside bus capacitors and braking resistors.
