Product Description:
The ACK-055-06 is a compact DC-powered servo drive module produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed for distributed motion networks that use the CANopen protocol, the unit interfaces between a machine controller and a brushless or brushed motor, modulating power and feedback to close the axis current loop. Its role in automation is to deliver regulated torque and speed commands while minimizing panel space and wiring complexity.
The drive operates from a DC bus up to +55 Vdc, allowing it to share a low-voltage supply with other axes while still supporting moderate motor voltages. Under continuous loading it sources 3 Adc, which supports steady-state torque output and sets thermal sizing for heat sinking. For accelerations or load shocks, the controller can deliver 6 Adc for the specified peak window, enabling brief torque surges without saturation. Electrical power conversion limits are reflected in a continuous output of 0.15 kW and a short-term ceiling of 0.33 kW. These values help size fuses and cable cross section so copper losses stay within safe margins during rated and transient duty cycles.
Control bandwidth is set by a PWM carrier that switches at 15 kHz, balancing current ripple with switching losses. Motion commands are updated in the position and velocity loops at 3 kHz, while the inner current loop refreshes at the same carrier rate to maintain tight torque regulation during rapid profile changes. Up to 10 opto-isolated digital inputs accommodate limit switches, probe triggers, or quick-stop functions without additional I/O cards. All circuitry is housed in a footprint of 63.5 × 40.6 × 21.1 mm, so the module can be mounted close to the motor, shortening cable runs and improving EMI performance in multi-axis machinery.
