Product Description:
The ACJ-055-09 is a single-axis digital servo drive manufactured by Copley Controls and supplied as part of the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed to interface with distributed control networks over CANopen, the module regulates torque, velocity, and position in brushless or brushed servo motors used in industrial automation cells, packaging lines, and semiconductor tools. By closing its control loops on board and exchanging commands and status through fieldbus telegrams, it offloads motion tasks from the main controller while maintaining deterministic behavior.
In continuous operation, the drive supplies up to 3 Adc of motor current, a level chosen to match small to mid-frame actuators without thermal derating. This current translates into a sustained mechanical output of 163 W when the load demands constant motion. The internal high-voltage input accepts direct-current bus levels down to 20 Vdc and up to 55 Vdc; this range lets the same model run from 24-volt mobile sources or higher-energy 48-volt panels. With an output resistance of 0.075 Ω, the stage minimizes I²R losses and improves efficiency during low-speed torque production. A pulse-width modulation output frequency of 15 kHz keeps acoustic noise outside audible bands, while the velocity and position loops refresh at 3 kHz to preserve stable tracking under variable loads.
For rapid accelerations, the ACJ-055-09 can raise output to a peak of 9 Adc, and for loads with higher mechanical demand this burst can produce up to 490 W of shaft power. These transients are limited to 1 s to stay within semiconductor and magnetic temperature limits. The current loop is computed every 15 kHz, so the controller can react within microseconds to back-EMF changes that occur during these peaks. This fast sampling helps the drive respond quickly during short overload periods and supports smooth torque changes as load conditions shift.
