Product Description:
The 800-1841 is a compact digital servo drive produced by Copley Controls for the Accelnet CanOPEN Modules series. Designed for mounting near the motor, the unit interfaces with a CANopen network and translates motion commands into regulated current or voltage for brushless and brushed servomotors. By closing velocity and position loops internally, it relieves the PLC of high-speed control duties and supports coordinated axes in packaging, semiconductor, and material-handling equipment.
The analog command port presents an input resistance of 5.05 kΩ, so standard ±10 V sources draw minimal current while maintaining noise rejection. Incoming signals are digitized at a 12-bit resolution, giving 4,096 discrete levels for torque or speed setpoints. For holding vertical loads or locking rotary stages, the dedicated brake output supplies up to 1.0 Adc to an external brake coil. Motor current is updated at a 16 kHz loop rate, allowing tight regulation during fast load changes, and an internal sensor trips the drive at 70 °C to protect power devices from overheating. Additional I/O includes optically isolated outputs that source up to 300 mAdc. The drive requires a minimum load inductance of 200 µH for stable PWM filtering, while the encoder power supply provides 5 Vdc at up to 500 mA for single-ended or differential feedback.
Feedback processing accepts encoder counts at 8 Mcount/s, accommodating high-resolution scales without missing edges. Position commands delivered over CANopen are buffered at 2 MHz and executed at a 4 kHz update rate. The drive operates from a DC bus with a lower limit of 14 Vdc for low-voltage robotics and an upper limit of 90 Vdc for larger servomotors; brake and logic rails are derived internally. Pulse-width modulation switches at up to 100 kHz, and individual pulses can be as narrow as 220 ns. This rapid switching minimizes ripple current and reduces acoustic noise in the motor windings. The broad bus range also allows the drive to support motors with different voltage and power requirements without an external logic supply.
