Product Description:
The 800-1812 is a dual-axis servo drive module produced by Copley Controls for the Accelnet EtherCAT Modules series. It combines motor power electronics, feedback processing, and fieldbus communication in a compact housing, enabling two brushless or brushed servo motors to be commanded directly over an EtherCAT network. In an industrial automation line, the module supplies phase current, executes motion profiles, and reports status words to the controller, eliminating separate amplifier cards and simplifying multi-axis cabinet layouts.
The control architecture supports rapid internal updates. The current loop operates at 16 kHz, and the velocity and position regulators refresh at 4 kHz to minimize following error during dynamic moves. Safety is addressed through a hardware Safe Torque Off path that opens within 2 ms when the STO input is triggered. For short overloads, the drive can source peak current for up to 1 s, provided each motor has at least 200 µH of phase inductance to prevent excessive ripple. Two axes share the same EtherCAT node, and synchronized distributed-clock operation is maintained through the unit’s dual network ports, allowing a daisy-chained topology without external switches.
Machine interfacing is handled through two analog command channels sampled at 12-bit resolution, along with 18 optically isolated digital inputs for limits, home switches, and safety interlocks. Status is returned through 7 digital outputs that can drive indicator lamps or PLC input cards. Each axis supplies up to 500 mA through its encoder power output, and incremental encoder emulation is available for legacy controllers. The physical enclosure measures 172.1 × 119.3 × 44.1 mm, conserving panel space while still providing front access to a single RS-232 port for configuration and diagnostics.
