Product Description:
The 800-1810 servo amplifier is produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed for distributed motion platforms, the module interfaces with CANopen networks to regulate current and velocity in brushless or stepper motors used in automated assembly, packaging, and semiconductor positioning equipment. By combining fieldbus communication, local loop processing, and integrated braking circuitry, the unit provides a compact control layer that mounts near the motor and reduces cabinet wiring. It also supports EtherCAT pass-through communication and analog command sources, making it adaptable to hybrid architectures where deterministic fieldbus and legacy analog control coexist.
The drive accepts a DC supply and can operate continuously at up to 90 VDC, delivering a sustained phase current of 3 ADC to the motor windings. During acceleration, it provides a peak output of 6 ADC for no longer than 1 second, after which thermal foldback returns the device to its continuous level. Fast current regulation is achieved by a control loop running at 16 kHz, minimizing ripple and allowing the recommended minimum load inductance of 200 µH to be used without instability. A separate input stage is rated for 6 ADC continuously and 12 ADC at peak load, helping the internal DC bus remain stable under dynamic loading. The servo loop executes at 4 kHz to close velocity and position paths, while the brake driver can sink 1 ADC when clamping vertical loads.
The analog command channel offers 12-bit resolution for torque or velocity references. The module has 18 optically isolated inputs that capture limit, home, or sequence signals, while seven digital outputs activate brakes or relays. A dedicated brake channel provides control for applications that require holding torque. Step-and-direction commands are accepted at rates up to 2 MHz, keeping pace with high-speed microstepping indexers. Ethernet traffic is carried over 100BASE-TX for EtherCAT daisy-chain routing. The aluminum housing measures 172.1 × 124.3 × 44.1 mm and accommodates the I/O header, two RJ45 connectors, and a heat-spreading plate. This plate dissipates power-stage heat during sustained operation at the rated input current.
