Product Description:
The 800-1586B is a compact digital servo drive produced by Copley Controls within the Accelnet CANopen Modules series. Designed to mount close to brushless or voice-coil actuators, it interfaces with a CANopen bus and delivers closed-loop current, velocity, or position control for distributed automation axes. By converting DC supply energy into a pulse-width-modulated output, the unit regulates motor torque while providing encoder power, limit processing, and safety I/O in a single package.
Continuous operation is supported at a phase current of 6 A DC, allowing the drive to deliver up to 533 W of mechanical power to matched three-phase motors without exceeding its thermal limits. The internal current loop updates at 15 kHz, so torque commands from the motion controller are translated into output pulses with microsecond precision. Pulse-width modulation switches at 30 kHz; this high ripple frequency shifts switching noise above the acoustic range and reduces in-band current ripple. Stable regulation requires the connected winding to provide at least 200 µH of inductance, preventing excessive current rise. Nine optically isolated digital inputs and four sourcing digital outputs connect the amplifier to overtravel switches, home sensors, or relay circuits.
Transient demands are handled by a peak current of 12 A DC that can be maintained for 1 second, raising shaft power to 1600 W during acceleration or disturbance rejection. The housing measures 97.28 × 62.74 × 32.77 mm, enabling installation in dense multi-axis panels. The drive supplies encoders with 5 V DC at 400 mA and resolves quadrature position feedback at 20 million counts per second. Alternatively, it accepts step-and-direction command streams at rates up to 2 MHz. A dedicated motion indexer can also provide incremental velocity targets at 3 kHz.
